Post What's next for global warming?

Global warming has been around for so many years, but it is just these days that we focus on it because we are already feeling its bad effects. As scientists say, global warming produces strong storms and hurricanes that may also result to other environmental disasters.

Only these past few days, two countries experienced disasters. Myanmar was hit by a strong cyclone wiping villages and resulting death to many of its people. China suffered from an earthquake which destroyed many lives and properties. Both countries are in big crisis now.

These are facts that will wake the minds of people of how serious global warming is.

I don't know about the cyclone, but the earthquake is certainly not linked to global warming. Don't mix climate and geology.

It does have connection with global warming somehow. Rising of sea level results for the adjustment of soil, affecting some areas of land.

It appears that a powerful earthquake was indeed likely after the build up in the days preceeding it and the `others` that were detected.
Look at this link, you`ll see earthquakes of magnitudes ranging from 6.6 to 6.8 in Alaska(May 2nd)
Japan(May 7th)
And Guam(May 9th).
Look under `earthquakes in the news`.

I honestly believe there is a lot of seismc and volcanic activity going on around the planet right now,the Chaiten volcano could carry on erupting for months, perhaps years!

Default our earth!

in my country, they already conduct a program about the effect of the global warming! i just wish that my fellow countrymen will be awaken or at least will be aware on what's really going on...

some big companies in my country already participated about this issue! our government put up a billboard, t.v., radio, and print adds. i'm really hoping for a better result and campaign!

Thumbs down global warming.

it dos'nt cause due to earthquakes or cyclones.
it is due to the green house effect.
it is due to the gases that the sun sends to the earth.
due to the presence of ozone layer, it traps these gases and stores it without leaving it.
by collecting more & more gases, the earth heats up.

but it was nice post by you.

sankeerth.

Earthquake is not global climage change-linked...
Though Cyclone Nargis was affected by global climate change, but not initiated.

I think toxic free water and food will be the next--
Droughts happening in unpredictable places due to excessive evaporation of water because of warming...
Then crops may have difficulty in growing...

Really, (to Rarelywrong and Neverwrong ),
I think the next will be Ragnarok...

Theres achully a lot of talk about if climate change has links with earthquakes and volcanic activity.

"The reason? As ice melts and waters runs off, tremendous amounts of weight are lifted off of Earth's crust. As the newly freed crust settles back to its original, pre-glacier shape, it can cause seismic plates to slip and stimulate volcanic activity according to research into prehistoric earthquakes and volcanic activity."
